The Rosevilles Ceilidh Band

If you are looking for an exhilarating  wedding ceilidh/barn dance, gentle songs and tunes for a garden party, a foot-stomping Irish-style bash or an audience sing-along  in Cornwall or Devon then look no further.

The Rosevilles Ceilidh/Barn Dance Band. 

We aim for a lively, fun and friendly ceilidh (kaylee) or barn dance that's tailored for your special event.  Our caller will talk you through each dance and keep everyone in time.  If it suits your event better we can mix the dances with songs and tunes. We usually play as 3 musicians and a caller but if needed can add more musicians for a bigger sound.  All our dances are gender neutral .

    Why do ceilidhs work well at weddings?

The Rosevilles  

As a performance band we play a blend of songs and tunes from various genres which can be customised for your event. We usually perform as a trio (Su and John with Anna on violin.  Su and John can also play as a duo for smaller events.  If you're looking for a bigger sound we can usually bring in additional musicians as required.​

What does a ceilidh cost?

​

This would depend upon duration and PA requirement etc but  typically would be  from £560 + travel. 

We would look at reducing the costs for unfunded charity or community events.

A Little Bit About Us

​

Su (mandolin/banjo/bodhran/vocals), Anna (fiddle/vocals), John (guitar/vocals​

​

Founder members of The Rosevilles, John and Su, have played together for over 25 years. Playing throughout Cornwall in the rousing Irish band 'Hair of the Dog' and then later with 'The Ransome Crawlers' ceilidh band. Su has also played with the Cornish fiddle group 'Bagas Crowd' and sang with the women's shanty group, 'The Jolly Strumpets'.

 

Anna, after playing many years in classical orchestras, also

found a love of folk music after joining Bagas Crowd .  In addition to having played with The Bolingey Troyl Band , the theatre group Mr Bones Presents and the fiddle group Dyski, Anna teaches music and sings with the community choir 'Raise the Ruth'

Our Callers are Nina or Su

Nina is from Devon and has been involved in folk music and ceilidh dancing for most of her life.  She is actively involved in many aspects of Cornish culture especially around music and dancing and has danced with many groups including Appalachian and Morris .
